Letter of Recommendation from Supporter

(From a supporter of 'Casita Punena', wanting to see further expansion of help for needy children in Puno)

Dear Guests,

Thank you for choosing to stay at ‘Casita Punena (Little Puno House).

This project has been started up with the aid of donations from Northern Ireland - UK, with the aim of setting up self-financing projects in order to generate support for the children's work run by Pastor Ramon Chavez and his wife. Up to May 2009 they had a children's home with about 20 kids from the nearby area. However because of a lack of funds they had to close it down.

They still have a small soup kitchen that provides cheap food for some of the poor children. During my stay there in June there were about 13 kids attending. They come running very hungrily after school to get proper food which they don’t get at home. At home many have a small simple diet which may just be a bowl of potatoes each day. This loving Christian family is a very hospitable and loves to have visitors.

They have a heart to reach more kids and in some form start up a children’s home again. So the charge for your stay will help them out in their difficult economic situation as a family, but, above all, provide on-going funds for the soup kitchen and for the future extension of the project. Also to grow funds to again open a small children’s home. They want to have an ‘open home’ which provides 3 meals a day if possible and also help with homework as well as give moral understanding and joy to the hearts of the children.

I thank you again for you support and I hope you have a memorable time here in Puno.

J-D Lovell
